When the bug penetrates the wood, it leaves a trail of fungi for its larvae to feast on. This results in an unique grain patern that gives Ambrosia Maple its distinctive look. It has tiger-like gray stripes across its grain with small holes in them. Wood sold in lumberyards are free of insects. Color ranges generally from light beige to medium brown.
