Common Uses: Indoor use. Furniture, cabinets, gunstocks, interior paneling, veneers, turned objects, and other small items.
Color/Appearance: The heartwood can range from light brown to dark chocolate brown with darker brown streaks. The color may sometimes have gray, purple, or reddish undertones. The sapwood is pale gray-yellow to nearly white. Figured grain patterns such as curl and burl are also visible.

- T/R Ratio: 1.4
Workability: Generally easy to work with provided the grain is straight and consistent. Tear-out can sometimes be an issue when surfacing pieces with irregular or figured grain. Glues well and responds well to finishing products.
Responds well to steam bending.
