Description

Double Boiled Pale Linseed Oil - 473 ml

Pale double boiled linseed oil is ideal for reviving furniture, woodwork, beams and flooring that have been previously finished with linseed oil. Linseed oil has long been used by local craftsmen to coat handmade furniture, floors and woodwork.

It can easily give untreated pale woods (pine, spruce, birch, ash) an aged, amber coloured finish. Linseed oil can be used as a sealant before applying wax or lacquer and is often present in the preparation of oil-based varnishes.

On new or stripped wood, diluting the oil will allow for better penetration. The recommended dilution is 2/3 oil to 1/3 turpentine.

Preparation :

The wood surface must be clean and dry. Wear gloves. Shake the contents and mix well before application.

 Application :

  1. Following the grain, apply a generous quantity of the oil using a brush, cloth or woodworker's polishing cotton mesh. Let stand for 15 to 20 minutes then wipe off the excess.
  2. Wait 24 hours between each coat (or longer if weather is hot and humid).
  3. For best results plan on applying between 4 and 7 coats.

To obtain a perfectly smooth finish, it may be necessary to sand the surface with very fine steel wool or 600 grit sandpaper in between coats.

 Dryin time :

Oil should be completely dry within 24 to 48 hours.

 Coverage :

1 liter = From 130 to 220 sq. ft.
