Description

Stabilized Maple burl makes remarkably beautiful turned pens.  Stabilizing is a process that impregnates the burl with resins and renders it into an ideal turning blank. The finished turned burl blank has a vibrant grain and a surface with a brilliant and durable shine.

 Size: 3/4" x 3/4" x 5“

Stabilized wood has been processed with a resin material. This process can be useful to strengthen punky areas, and it will limit expansion and shrinkage due to changes in humidity and help it resist rot. The stabilizing process does not fill voids.

Stabilized blanks can be worked on a lathe, using standard woodworking techniques and tooling with light touches.
