What sets it apart is a distinct, perpendicular hole drilled on the brace’s vertical face, designed specifically to anchor or secure the bracket to a secondary plane, beam, or ceiling.
Used in both utilitarian and decorative shelving to anchor brackets to walls while securing the shelf board into place through the perpendicular hole.
It forces screws to bite in at a perpendicular (90°) angle relative to standard mounting screws, which drastically increases the joint's load-bearing capacity.
