Available in a wide range of natural, semi-transparent and even opaque colours, SANSIN SDF provides strong and effective protection for all exterior wood surfaces. Its specially formulated oils and resins penetrate deeply into the wood to protect it against harsh climates and ultraviolet rays. Its water-based technology provides complete protection in a single coat, although a second coat can create an even richer and more beautiful finish.

Its highly water-repellent properties make it the obvious choice for homes and structures exposed to moisture. Not only does SDF protect the exterior surface of the wood, but it also preserves the core by allowing the wood to “breathe,” preventing moisture from becoming trapped and causing rot.

DESCRIPTION

SANSIN SDF is an environmentally friendly single-coat finish specially designed for wood siding, decks and fences. This product is UV resistant, water repellent, low VOC, non-flammable and easily cleaned with water and mild soap. With only one application, this unique, rich and attractive formula provides long-lasting protection. SANSIN SDF will not crack, peel or blister. A maintenance coat should be applied every two to three years on horizontal surfaces and every two to four years on vertical surfaces.

COLOURS

Available in the full range of Sansin colours as well as custom architectural colours. Colours may vary depending on wood grain, texture, porosity and wood species. Results may differ from those illustrated. Always test beforehand to ensure the desired result.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Ensure the surface is free of defects or deterioration.
Replace defective boards or components if necessary.
Sand the wood using a belt sander or orbital sander with 60 or 80 grit sandpaper.

APPLICATION METHOD

Apply SANSIN SDF using the desired method: dipping, brush application or spray application (pressure pot or airless sprayer).

PROCEDURES

• Test on an inconspicuous area to verify colour and product penetration.
• Apply under suitable conditions, ideally at 70ºF (21ºC) with approximately 50% relative humidity.
• For best results, apply a generous coat of SANSIN SDF for maximum absorption and wipe away excess product a few minutes later using a brush.
• Continuously monitor the surface and wipe away any puddles or runs.
• For superior protection, a second coat of SANSIN SDF may be applied.
• Do not apply during the hottest part of the day or in direct sunlight. This may cause a surface film to form and limit penetration, which could lead to peeling in the near future.
• Do not apply during rainy conditions or cold nights. The product requires 24 hours of drying time after application.
• When using tinted product, mix thoroughly before and during application.
• Always read the application instructions before starting your project.

MAINTENANCE

Vertical surfaces require maintenance every 3 to 6 years. Maintenance is necessary when the surface shows signs of wear such as fading or erosion. Regular maintenance will help preserve the wood colour over time, improve dimensional stability and maintain water repellency. Periodically clean the wood using a pressure washer and/or Sansin Multi-Wash to remove dirt and debris. Maintenance frequency depends on the quality of surface preparation, application method and application conditions. If fading or erosion becomes noticeable, clean the wood using a pressure washer and/or Sansin Multi-Wash to remove dirt and debris. Then reapply a maintenance coat of Sansin SDF following the application instructions.
