Guajuvira, or Patagonula americana, is a majestic tree native to South America, prized for its precious wood. It mainly grows in Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina. Its wood ranges from white to brown in sapwood, while heartwood offers dark hues from deep brown to nearly black. This wood is used in luxury furniture, flooring, doors, and windows, thanks to its unique grain, blending irregular patterns and straight grain, and its satin-smooth lustre. Though moderately photosensitive, Guajuvira develops a subtle patina over time, enhancing its natural charm and durability.
