Scientific Name: Maclura pomifera

Origin: United States (Central-South)

Common Uses: Indoor/Outdoor use. Fence posts, dyes, bow making, musical instruments, turnings, and other specialty wooden items.

Color/Appearance: The heartwood is golden to bright yellow, which inevitably darkens to a medium brown over time, primarily due to exposure to ultraviolet light. See the article "Preventing Color Changes in Exotic Woods" for more details.
