Average weight: 40.9 lb/ft3 (655 kg/m3)

Common Uses: Ship and boat building (interior and exterior), veneer, furniture, sculpture, turning and specialty objets.

Color/Appearance: Heartwood tends to be golden or medium brown, while sapwood is a pale beige. Darker brown grain may also be present across the boards, as may orange streaks.

Shrinkage :
Radial: 2.6%
Tangential: 5.3%
Volumetric: 7.2%

Workability: Overall easy to work, Plantation Teak has a lower silica content than that of Burmese Teak, due to the nature of the soils in which it is grown. Therefore, it will have a less blunting effect on the blades than Burmese teak. It glues and finishes well. However, it is recommended to wipe the wood surface with a solvent before gluing to ensure that the glue adheres properly.
