Description

Walnut Stain Crystals

Walnut stain is a traditional natural wood dye obtained from the husks of walnuts. Used for centuries in woodworking, it enhances the wood grain and gives it a warm, aged look. Sold today in the form of water-soluble crystals, it is easy to prepare and apply.

Explanation:

  • Origin: traditionally, the green walnut husks (pericarp) were boiled or soaked to obtain a tannin-rich coloring liquid.
  • Current form: now sold as crystals or powder soluble in water, known as walnut stain crystals.
  • Properties:
    • Highly covering, it quickly colors the wood.
    • Highlights the wood grain, giving it a warm, antique appearance.
    • Provides different shades of brown depending on concentration and number of coats.
  • Uses:
    • In woodworking and furniture restoration to create an aged look.
    • Suitable for woodwork, beams, floors, moldings, and more.

Key Features:

  • Traditional natural walnut-based dye
  • Water-soluble crystals for easy mixing
  • Simple, uniform, and highly covering application
  • Accentuates the wood grain and provides natural depth

  • Perfect for furniture restoration and wood finishing
  • Achieves the final tone in a single application

Preparation:

  • Ensure the surface is clean and dry.
  • Dissolve 15 g to 150 g / 1 L of warm water, depending on the desired brown shade.
